Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Sprinkle in the flour and whisk until it forms a paste, cooking for another minute.
- Slowly pour in the milk and cream, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
- Let the mixture simmer gently until it starts to thicken.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning if using.
- Continue stirring until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth and velvety.
- Adjust seasoning if needed. Add a splash of milk if the sauce gets too thick.
- Serve immediately over pasta, chicken, or use as a dip.
Notes
- This sauce can be made ahead of time and reheated gently.
- For a thicker sauce, reduce the amount of milk.
