Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 4 large eggs (room temperature)
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one by one along with vanilla extract; mix well.
- Sift together flour and baking powder in another bowl. Gradually add to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow cakes to cool completely before removing from pans.
- Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- Assemble the cake by placing one layer on a platter, spreading half of the whipped cream, topping with the second layer, and covering with remaining cream.
