Description
This delicious banana brown sugar sauce is perfect for drizzling over pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
Ingredients

- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions
- Mash one ripe banana until smooth. You should have about 1/2 cup of mashed banana.
- In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat.
- Stir in 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar and let it begin to dissolve and bubble.
- Add the mashed banana, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of nutmeg. Let it cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Pour in 1/2 cup of water, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Let cool slightly before using. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Best used fresh but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
- Great as a topping for desserts or breakfast items.
